Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of the ChifChef mobile app and this website (together, "ChifChef"), provided by Minwa Bentley, an individual trading as Gallium Labs, Kenya ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using ChifChef you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

Your account

• You must be 18 or older, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to use ChifChef.
• Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your password safe. You're responsible for activity on your account.
• Usernames that impersonate others or are offensive may be changed or removed.

Using ChifChef

We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use ChifChef for your own non-commercial cooking and household planning. Please don't:

• break the law or use ChifChef to harm anyone;
• try to access other people's accounts or data, or our systems beyond what the app allows;
• overload, scrape, reverse-engineer or interfere with the service;
• upload content you don't have the right to share, or that is unlawful or offensive.

Your content

Photos, notes and other things you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide ChifChef to you. Deleting your account deletes them.

Recipes, food safety and allergies

ChifChef is a cooking aid, not a source of medical, dietary or food-safety advice.

• Allergy flags may be incomplete. They depend on the allergies you've entered and on our recipe ingredient data, which can contain mistakes. Always check ingredients and packaging yourself, especially for serious allergies.
• Expiry dates are estimates. Dates we suggest are based on typical shelf life. Trust the date printed on the packaging and your own judgement about whether food is safe to eat.
• Receipt scans use AI and can be wrong. Check the suggested items before adding them to your pantry.
• Follow safe cooking practice, including cooking temperatures, hygiene and safe use of kitchen equipment.

Availability and changes

ChifChef is provided free of charge and "as is". We work to keep it running and accurate, but we don't promise it will always be available, error-free or suited to a particular purpose. We may change, suspend or stop features. If we make a significant change to these terms, we'll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect.

Ending your use

You can stop using ChifChef and delete your account at any time from Profile → Edit profile. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

Liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by relying on recipe, allergy, expiry or scan information without checking it yourself. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, or your rights as a consumer under the laws of Kenya.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute.
